Tony plays hunt the pork

Bank holiday Monday was spent at Castle Howard for the Ryedale Festival of Food and Drink.
John, Linda, Pat, and Tony met us there (eventually after bank hol traffic - we should have set off earlier) around 11.30 - just in time for the cookery demo by Greens of Whitby. Whilst the demo was good (but [...]

3 weeks in One Burst from D&G

4/5/08
The Packhorse aka The Ridge at Widdop.
We went to meet our good friends Sharon and Maggie in Hebden Bridge to have lunch and catch up. They took us to The Pack Horse which to locals is known as The Ridge? All the food is home cooked and you go into the kitchen itself to order [...]

Wasabi Peas

Another great film club night in The Adelphi was spiced up by the addition of Wasabi Peas, which I’ve never tried before.
They’re dried marrowfat peas coated in wasabi paste - really very hot. They are perfect in a bar as a snack as they make you drink far more than you should. On top of that, [...]

Kendell’s Bistro Leeds

On J&L’s recommendation, I took a client to Kendall’s Bistro for lunch yesterday. It was great. We both had the special - chicken, leek and tarragon pies with home made chips. Not only was this brilliant value at £6.90, but the quality of the food was top drawer.
It deserves to be a roaring success, but [...]

Glorious

There’s only one way to dine when the weather’s like this - alfresco. And in my opinion, you just can’t beat the taste of the fire, so the barbecue got its first real outing of the year.
Pictured is Jonathan Ives’ leg of spring lamb, boned and butterflied, marinated in lemon, garlic, thyme rosemary and extra virgin olive [...]

The Hoste Arms - Burnham Market

Friday 2nd May. Looked for somewhere near the Norfolk coast for lunch on our journey to Norwich for the bank holiday weekend. This was recommended in our Room At The Inn book(never let us down yet!!) and was a good but not great experience.
The location and decor in the pretty village of Burnham Market [...]

Georgia’s Baking Session

Georgia was on a baking mission last night - after successfully baking a victoria sponge in food tech in the afternoon at school, she was determined to bake some buns last night.
As usual, they turned out lovely and after she had finished them off with butter cream, I can testify they were delish.
P
